This single storey extension was awarded as a good example of having maximised the rear garden's southerly aspect and mature landscaped views. Situated in Ffos-y-fran, Bassaleg, the design utilised sunlight penetration via large screen glazing and roofligths into the extended living space .

The combination of a steel frame, aluminium fenestration, masonary construction and anti-solar tinted glass was deemed by the judging panel to be of particular merit in meeting the energy efficient criteria required under the building regulation legislation.
