   Housing & Extensions

Lisvane, Cardiff.

A small, exclusive new-build development of three bespoke large detached executive houses set in the leafy suburb of Cardiff. These properties offer 5/6 bedrooms including integral/detached garages.

Elevational materials include the use of hand made bricks, coloured textural render and tile hanging to the facades together with slated roofs. The architectural features include brick quoins, bay windows, steeply sloping slated roofs and chimney detailing in order to blend in and harmonise with the character of the surrounding affluent area.

This sun lounge extension provides a solid roof alternative to the more conventional, fully glazed, glass conservatory option. Such a design ensures that the extension neither overheats in the summer months or is too cold to use during the winter period. The internal ceiling line follows the sloping roof structure allowing a spacious interior and in combination with large window/door features provides plentiful natural daylight and ample views of the southern garden aspect. The effect is one of both allowing the garden into the dwelling and being able to enjoy this outside recreational space from within throughout the changing seasons. The extension has been carefully designed to be in-keeping with the character of the original house with the utilisation of matching materials and features.

Rhiwderin, Newport.

Chepstow Road, Newport.

Multi-purpose, bespoke self-build (new-build) dwelling built with four bedrooms and living quarters together with an integeral granny annex. Both adjoin onto an upper level balcony which overlooks the garden area and allows the home to make full use of the southerly aspect and views. Intergrated sky allows sunlight to alight the large, open attic space used for accessible storage and play space facilities for younger members of the family.

The design makes use of the sloping nature of the site in creating useful, underground storage provision due to the raised ground floor and extended rear patio area.

An intrinsic part of the Chepstow Road street scene, the frontage design harmonises with the surrounding housing with its bay fronted and projecting building line features.

Little Mill, Usk.
